Why Your Dog Smells After Grooming: Fix It with Cologne

Quick Answer

If your dog still smells after grooming, a long-lasting pet cologne—like Nature Labs Bone Envy—can neutralize odor and keep your pup fresh between baths.

Diagnose and Fix the Smell

• Symptom: Your dog smells even right after a bath or within a day or two.
• Likely cause: Odor-causing bacteria or oils remain on the coat, or your dog picks up new smells from the environment. If the smell is very strong or accompanied by itching, redness, or skin flakes, see a vet—it could be a skin infection.
• Corrective action: After grooming, apply a pet cologne like Nature Labs Bone Envy to your dog's coat, focusing on areas that tend to hold odor. Follow the label instructions for amount and frequency. Use cologne as a refresher between baths, not as a replacement for bathing.
• When to stop or choose another option: If your dog has broken skin, allergies, or a known sensitivity, skip cologne and ask your groomer or vet for a hypoallergenic alternative. Always test a small area first if it's your first time using a new product.
